ABOUT US

The Lethbridge Philatelic Society (LPS) is a non-profit organization that promotes the joy of stamp collecting. We are Chapter 57 of the Royal Philatelic Society of Canada (RPSC). The RPSC is Canada’s national society and speaks for all Canadian Collectors at the municipal, provincial, federal, and international level of philately.

The LPS was established in 1957 and provides a meeting place for stamp collectors to get together and share their interests and stamps and postal history. Members of the LPS come together to enjoy social interaction with other collectors, to learn about all aspects of the hobby, and to buy, sell, and trade philatelic material.

The club provides a place for local people to bring their collections and accumulations for evaluation and disposal if so desired. The club will auction the philatelic material either at a regular meeting or at the annual club auction held on the 2nd Thursday in May. The club will retain 10% of the sale price as a donation to the LPS.

Membership in the LPS is $15 per year. The dues cover the physical year from January 1 to December 31. Fees for people joining the club after the summer break beginning in September are at a monthly per diem rate of $2.00

The first Constitution was drafted in 1960. The aims and objectives were “The furtherance of the science of philately, the promotion of stamp collecting as a hobby, and the encouragement of goodwill and fellowship among the members.”
